Older people who consume a lot of fiber may live longer than individuals with low-fiber diets. Researchers tracked nearly 370,000 people aged 50 to 71 and found that those with the most fiber-rich diets were 17% less likely to die during the 15+ year study period than those who consumed the lowest amounts of dietary fiber.
